CARING FOR THE COMMUNITY
Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of JAM Clothing and what it stands for. Asked about the company’s endeavours, Ditz responds: “JAM has always been committed to giving back to the community, and we have embarked on various social responsibility projects over the years. Our communities play a big part in our success story, so it’s important for us to give back.
“We have had the privilege of working with some remarkable institutions and partners over the years. One of our recent projects involved the Open Air School in Durban, which is a special needs school for physically challenged learners from grade R to matric. The JAM team took on the challenge of providing a much needed face-lift for their boarders hostel, OASIS HOUSE. Upon their return from July school holidays, the boarders were completely surprised to find a fresh, colourful new dining hall, recreation room and study hall.
“In a first-time event for Durban, JAM was also affiliate sponsor of the Street Store, a pop-up shop for the poorest of the poor. JAM donated clothing and afforded the homeless community in Durban, the opportunity to ‘shop’ with dignity and self-respect, at no cost.
“We will continue to seek out opportunities to uplift the less fortunate in the communities around South Africa.”
