Dutch firm eyes Kenyan groups with CSR plat­form

Goodup, a Nether­lands-based so­cial en­ter­prise, has launched in Kenya to tap into large cor­po­rates will­ing to pump part of their profits into cor­po­rate so­cial re­spon­si­bil­ity (CSR) pro­grammes.

The firm will of­fer a one-stop dis­play for CSR ac­tiv­i­ties they are fund­ing, num­ber of em­ploy­ees will­ing to join and also open room for crowd-fund­ing for such projects.

Bart Lacroix, the gen­eral man­ager, said they chose Kenya to en­ter Africa be­cause it hosts head of­fices of firms in­ter­ested in tak­ing CSR to the next level.

“We want to support their strate­gies in sup­port­ing char­ity,it will re­quire en­gag­ing em­ploy­ees, clients and com­mu­nity to do good with­out los­ing sight of the core busi­ness,” he said yes­ter­day. Mr Lacroix said the plat­form will help firms track their ex­pen­di­ture and im­pact.

“We are in dis­cus­sions with banks and tel­cos for a start. In ad­di­tion most of the multi­na­tion­als op­er­at­ing here are al­ready work­ing with us,” he said.

In the Nether­lands, the so­cial im­pact firm has part­nered with over 25 cor­po­rates since its launch in 2016. Among the firms it works with are Deloitte, Philips, Rabobank, Ac­cen­ture and Book­ing.com
