Speaker revokes Mbadi’s House minority status
National Assembly Speaker John Muturi yesterday revoked the nomination of Mr John Mbadi as Leader of Minority.
Mr Muturi said the opposition parties’ mode of filling positions was not according to the Standing Orders.
The Speaker said he had received many letters from National Super Alliance affiliate parties over the House positions and could not act on any.
“I ask the coalition to submit names in fulfilment of the laiddown procedures. This ought to be concluded by the time the House resumes on November 7,” he said.
The Speaker added that he received a letter from Nasa principal Moses Wetang’ula on September 13 notifying him of a resolution appointing Mr Mbadi Minority party leader, Mr Ayub Savula (Lugari) Deputy Minority leader, Mr Robert Mbui (Kathiani) Minority Whip and Mr Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini) Deputy Chief Whip.
On September 21, he got a letter from Mbadi notifying him of a decision by Nasa to leave vacant the offices of Deputy Leader of Minority, Minority Whip and Deputy Minority Whip. Mr Mbadi yesterday said the opposition would comply with the Speaker’s order.
