Maraga names judges to hear Itare dam case
Chief Justice David Maraga (below) has constituted a three-judge bench to hear a case seeking to block the building of Itare dam in Kuresoi South Constituency. Justices John Mutungi, Kullow Mohamed and Dalmas Ohungo will determine if building of the Sh38 billion dam will proceed. A group of Kipsigis, Luo, Kuria, Abagusii and Ogiek elders oppose the project. The elders went to court on June 14 seeking the CJ’S intervention. The case will be heard on November 27.
