Men with same name face similar charge
There was confusion as two men with identical names appeared before a Mombasa court to take a plea for a traffic offence on Wednesday. The men, both named Charles Musyoki, entered the dock when the court clerk read out the name. The men were arrested in different locations for a coincidentally similar offence on Wednesday. Both pleaded guilty to driving faulty vehicles and were fined Sh2,000 each.
A man has accused police in Endarasha, Nyeri County, of detaining him for eight days without charging him after he was arrested over theft claims. The 47-year-old Peter Mwangi, who worked in a bar, said he was only taken to court on Tuesday. Kieni police boss Ahmed Ali denied the claim, saying the suspect had been released to facilitate an out-of-court deal that failed. The suspect was released on bond.
