Men with same name face sim­i­lar charge

There was con­fu­sion as two men with iden­ti­cal names ap­peared be­fore a Mom­basa court to take a plea for a traf­fic of­fence on Wed­nes­day. The men, both named Charles Musyoki, en­tered the dock when the court clerk read out the name. The men were ar­rested in dif­fer­ent lo­ca­tions for a co­in­ci­den­tally sim­i­lar of­fence on Wed­nes­day. Both pleaded guilty to driv­ing faulty ve­hi­cles and were fined Sh2,000 each.

A man has ac­cused po­lice in En­darasha, Ny­eri County, of de­tain­ing him for eight days with­out charg­ing him af­ter he was ar­rested over theft claims. The 47-year-old Peter Mwangi, who worked in a bar, said he was only taken to court on Tues­day. Kieni po­lice boss Ahmed Ali de­nied the claim, say­ing the sus­pect had been re­leased to fa­cil­i­tate an out-of-court deal that failed. The sus­pect was re­leased on bond.
