It is good to cel­e­brate strides made by girls

The In­ter­na­tional Day of the Girl Child was de­clared by the UN. It is also called the Day of the Girl. The day was first marked on Oc­to­ber 11, 2011. The day is in sup­port of more op­por­tu­ni­ties for girls and in­creases aware­ness of the gen­der in­equal­ity faced by girls world­wide. Ar­eas of con­cern in­clude le­gal rights, med­i­cal care, FGM and child mar­riages. The day cel­e­brates strides and suc­cesses of girls.
