Fear grips residents after farmer stumbles on bomb
Residents of Kimandi were gripped by fear when a bomb was found in the village in Kirinyaga County. Mr Ndegwa Ciuri on Wednesday evening stumbled upon the explosive, believed to have been planted by unknown criminals, on his farm. He alerted a neighbour, a former soldier, who examined the object and concluded that it was a bomb. The ex-soldier advised Mr Ciuri not to touch it. As the news spread, residents rushed to the scene but later scampered for safety. Mr Ciuri reported the matter to assistant chief Kabui Gatimu, who then alerted the police. Ballistics experts eventually detonated the bomb.
