Court rejects appeal by farmer in life sentence
A dairy farmer who attacked his wife and mother-in-law with a panga will spend the rest of his life in jail after an Appellate court rejected his appeal to overturn the sentence. Gilbert Mukundi Rubarua committed the offence on August 6, 2010 at Makandune village in Meru County, following a dispute with his wife Norline Kirakito on claims that she had tried to poison his tea. Judges Phillip Waki, Roselyne Nambuye and Patrick Kiage while at the
Nyeri Court of Appeal said the five prosecution witnesses who testified in the matter gave convincing evidence to prove the charge against Rubarua.
