Born Franco Luambo Luanzo Makiadi on July 6, 1938, at Sona Bata, DR Congo. There is no known doc­u­men­ta­tion of the ac­tual num­ber of songs he re­leased with his TP OK Jazz Band in his il­lus­tri­ous mu­si­cal ca­reer. The es­ti­mated fig­ure is well over 2,500 songs. Franco formed OK Jazz in 1956 along­side Jean Serge Es­sous, Edo Nganga, Cel­stin Kouka and Ros­sig­nol. Later Isaac Musekiwa, Edo Lu­tala, Ar­mando Braz­zos, Vicky Lon­gomba, Mu­lamba Mu­jos and Kwamy Munsi joined the group. The most pop­u­lar TP OK songs, in­clude com­po­si­tions by other mem­bers of the band.
