Store rain water for use when drought returns
We should put to good use the heavy rains being witnessed across the country. The water must be harnessed for future use during dry season, particularly in the arid and semi-arid counties. During the dry seasons, pastoralists incur heavy losses as the drought kills their livestock due to lack of pasture and water. The county governments should provide means of harvesting water during the wet season. Equally, county governments can construct dams to collect water which can be used for farming and also growing pasture for livestock. This may curb the losses herders incur resolve their conflict with ranch owners in future.
