Leaders call for cash audit of Dominion Farms before exit
Siaya leaders and community-based groups want a thorough financial audit of American-owned Dominion Farms before it is cleared to exit the area. Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and director of Community Initiative Action Group Kenya Chris Owala expressed concern over the company’s decision to close shop despite enjoying support from the local leadership and county government. They said the firm should pay in full all dues owed to workers and suppliers before being allowed to exit the vast Yala Swamp. The company’s problems began in February 2017 when CEO Calvin Burgess accused Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga, Governor Cornel Rasanga and five former Siaya MCAS of sabotaging its operations.
