New chartered flights boost tourist numbers
Lodges and camps in Tsavo East and West national parks are enjoying brisk business following the introduction of chartered flights between Warsaw and Mombasa by TUI Poland last week.
According to Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers-tsavo East and West, and Amboseli circuit chairman Willie Mwadilo, the direct flights by TUI Poland had increased tourist numbers in the parks.
Mr Mwadilo (right), who is also the general manager of Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge, said guest numbers at the facility in Taita-taveta County had gone up to 75 per cent, from 35 per cent last month.
Apart from the Polish tourists, the KAHC official added that the lodges and camps had been receiving domestic tourists thanks to Madaraka Express trains.

Kenya Safari Lodges and Hotels CEO Victor Shitakha said Voi Safari Lodge in Tsavo East had 70 per cent occupancy thanks to charter flights from Italy and Poland to Mombasa.
