Tears as murdered boy laid to rest
Tears flowed freely on Saturday during the burial of an 11-year-old pupil, who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted before he was killed last week in Matungulu.
Speakers at the burial in Katangini village piled pressure on police to apprehend the killers.
“The society has lost a young and promising soul following the heinous act by one of us. We demand that police step up efforts to ensure justice prevails,” said Pastor Paul Nzuve of Jesus Works Centre.
Mr Victor Malinda, the boy's father, said: “We are still in shock. His painful death remains our worst experience. We pray that the culprits will be brought to book.”
Mr Malinda called upon authorities to speed up investigations. Nimrod Malinda, 11, was abducted a week ago on his way home from school, some 300 metres from his parent's house. His body was found stuffed in a sack. Matungulu OCPD Samuel Mukuusi said the key suspect, a neighbour who is still at large, is a former convict.
