Kenya is Most Admired Brand in the Region
As the year comes to the end, we have an opportunity to reflect on our achievements and celebrate. As a nation, Kenya has many things to celebrate. Three weeks ago, Brand Africa, a global African initiative whose vision is to inspire and unlock a sustainable growth, reputation and competitive standing for Africa, named Kenya as the most admired brand in East and Central Africa. This is a confirmation that the branding initiatives as well as the reform programs that the government and the private sector are undertaking are paying off.
The ratings measured and ranked the brands that consumers admire and their corresponding value. They were based on a survey on a representative sample of eight countries, covering the major Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) regions to establish the base top 100 most admired brands. The countries were Ghana and Nigeria ( West Africa); Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda (East Africa); DRC (Central Africa) and Mozambique and South Africa (Southern Africa). Collectively, these countries represent 51% (477million) of SSA population and 67 per cent ($1,065 trillion) of Africa’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Their countries’ brands are also often the dominant brands with a dominant influence and consumer base within their regions.
Along with Kenya being named the most admired nation, several Kenyan products also stood out.
