I decided to pursue fitness because I loved how I felt after a run. I have always been a ball of energy and learnt to channel it into more productive things early on. Fitness for me is an outlet in so many ways. My fitness slogan and philosophy is… Fit Happens! If you want to go for it, just do it. You work at it and slowly and surely, fit happens. One fitness move I’d swear by is donkey kicks. As you get older for some reason your glutes tend to get slack. Don't let that be you. Drop down on all fours bring your knee into your chest and kick it straight out. I wake up at 4 am to prepare myself for the day ahead. I provide one-hour sessions and work through to 10 am. I have recently started training group classes. It’s amazing how people feed off the energy generated from a group. It’s also easier to hold yourself accountable. The reality is that your body performs better after a rest day. I am a mum of three so for me, rest day tends to be more like active rest between running after the kids and participating in different sports activities. However, I don't lift any weights or do cardio. I focus on keeping my water intake high and eating healthy. Wanna take up exercise in 2017? Plan, plan, plan! Plenty of times, new year resolutions tend to go up in smoke. Why? Because of failure to plan. Set out your fitness goals, be realistic and set timelines. Write it down, review it and make it happen. It’s not easy; however, it’s possible. My gym pet peeve is the idlers, people who just stand there talking and taking up space. Why can't they stay home and rest there? If you are done working out, just move out and sit beside the water fountain and catch your breath on the way to the showers and give others space.
