Govt of­fi­cials to be cleared by the pres­i­dent for any out-of-coun­try trip

KENYA: Gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials can now only travel out­side the coun­try with clear­ance from Pres­i­dent Uhuru Keny­atta, ac­cord­ing to head of Pub­lic Ser­vice Joseph Kinyua, in a let­ter to the At­tor­ney Gen­eral, Cab­i­net Sec­re­taries and Prin­ci­pal Sec­re­taries.

“This is to no­tify you that it has been de­cided, un­til fur­ther ad­vised oth­er­wise, no gov­ern­ment of­fi­cial will travel out­side the coun­try with­out clear­ance by the pres­i­dent,” Mr Kinyua wrote

How­ever, in­de­pen­dent bod­ies and con­sti­tu­tional com­mis­sions are ex­empted from the di­rec­tive con­tained in the Septem­ber 13 let­ter.
