‘After the 26th October?’

The East African - - OPINION -

Yesterday was election day. I wonder if we made it through? Did you march through the CBD? Did you vote, or didn’t you? For weeks, we’d really no idea, What might happen on 26th. I’m writing this one week earlier: I’ve no idea what really gives! Maybe someone scuppered the poll Despite the Court’s instructions and The people’s right to have a choice Was undermined by this and that? I really cannot now predict What might pass, come the 26th. Indeed, my only hope today is this: That all of us have come through it! I hope that real democracy Has seen us all emerge as brothers. And yet, I fear that we’ll persist With hurling names at one another. Stephen Partington stepartington@yahoo.co.uk
