All roads lead to Diani for beach fes­ti­val on Dec 9-Jan 2

The hol­i­days are here and what bet­ter way to spend it than re­lax­ing on pris­tine sands while soak­ing up the sun’s rays at Kenya’s Diani Beach.

The South Coast, home to some of the most beau­ti­ful beaches in the world, is hold­ing the Diani Beach Fes­ti­val from De­cem­ber 9 to Jan­uary 2.

Diani Beach has won sev­eral hos­pi­tal­ity awards. It was voted the sev­enth best beach in Africa in 2017 by an Amer­i­can travel web­site, Tripad­vi­sor, and ranked sev­enth over­all on the list of top 25 best beaches in Africa.

The beach fes­ti­val will fea­ture ex­treme sports and en­ter­tain­ment with a 10-day sky­dive boo­gie, aim­ing to bring to­gether 500 peo­ple from over 32 dif­fer­ent coun­tries.

On track

“We are well on track with plan­ning. The fes­ti­val is a mod­ern con­tem­po­rary event and rev­ellers will be treated to the very best of Diani from beach yoga, to sky­div­ing among other ac­tiv­i­ties, as well as top qual­ity ser­vice,” said Diani Beach Fes­ti­val di­rec­tor Sandip Pa­tel.

There will also be a kite surf­ing com­pe­ti­tion, wa­ter sports, kids club ad­ven­ture week and an air sports ex­hi­bi­tion.

Kenya’s top mu­sic group Sauti Sol, Tan­za­nia’s Vanessa Mdee and Hed Kandi from the United King­dom will per­form at the fes­ti­val.

An ar­ray of restau­rants will of­fer in­ter­na­tional cui­sine, there will be Christ­mas shop­ping vil­lages, bars, lounges, a pool re­treat and Moët Hen­nessy VIP ar­eas.

Ho­tels in Diani, Mom­basa and other coastal towns have the ca­pac­ity to ac­com­mo­date the vis­i­tors.

The fes­ti­val venue has the ca­pac­ity to host 3,000 to 3,500, peo­ple and the aim is to have over 20,000 vis­i­tors through­out the fes­ti­val.

Diani Beach Fes­ti­val will em­ploy 250 mem­bers of staff from the lo­cal towns and vil­lages, with over $3 mil­lion in­jected di­rectly into the lo­cal econ­omy.

The event has been spon­sored by Moet Hen­nessy with sup­port from re­cently ranked five star ho­tel-swahili Beach and English Point Ma­rina.
