IN 2017, Tullow signed a contract with Multiple Hauliers EA Ltd and Oilfield Movers Ltd to each provide 25 trucks to move crude in insulated tanktainers fitted with heating equipment provided by Primefuels Kenya Ltd.
The contract provides for transporters to mobilise equipment within one month upon notification that Kenya is ready to roll out the EOPS.
Mr Kamau said the Petroleum Ministry is in discussions with the Ministry of Energy on upgrading the existing 33 Kv electricity line from Turkwel to Lokichar town to higher capacity to meet future crude production needs.
“Tullow has drilled water wells in South Lokichar for 8 million litres. Full oil production needs 20 million litres of water drawn by gravity flow from Turkwel dam in West Pokot County,” he said.
