All Se­nate busi­ness sus­pended as mem­bers fo­cus on Gach­agua hear­ing

Se­nate Speaker Ek­wee Ethuro yes­ter­day sus­pended all busi­ness of House com­mit­tee un­til the im­peach­ment hear­ing of Ny­eri Gov­er­nor Nder­itu Gach­agua is con­cluded. He urged se­na­tors not to fail to at­tend the three-day ple­nary hear­ings to be­gin on Tues­day next week. “The re­spon­si­bil­ity vested in the dis­posal of this mat­ter is great, more so be­cause the adop­tion of this pro­ce­dure by ple­nary,” he said. “I, there­fore, di­rect that all se­na­tors avail them­selves to the ser­vice of the Se­nate and the na­tion through­out the pe­riod of the hear­ing next week.” At the same time, se­na­tors voted to al­ter the cal­en­dar of the Se­nate. The House will now re­sume from re­cess on Oc­to­ber 4. Se­na­tors have been re­called for spe­cial sit­tings for more than three times since they went on the Au­gust re­cess.
