All Senate business suspended as members focus on Gachagua hearing
Senate Speaker Ekwee Ethuro yesterday suspended all business of House committee until the impeachment hearing of Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua is concluded. He urged senators not to fail to attend the three-day plenary hearings to begin on Tuesday next week. “The responsibility vested in the disposal of this matter is great, more so because the adoption of this procedure by plenary,” he said. “I, therefore, direct that all senators avail themselves to the service of the Senate and the nation throughout the period of the hearing next week.” At the same time, senators voted to alter the calendar of the Senate. The House will now resume from recess on October 4. Senators have been recalled for special sittings for more than three times since they went on the August recess.
