Ul­tra­sound ma­chines are for di­ag­nos­tic pur­poses. With their imag­ing tech­niques, they are used to view in­ter­nal body struc­tures such as mus­cles, ten­dons, ves­sels and joints. They help to de­ter­mine in­ter­nal con­di­tions. Ex­am­i­na­tion of preg­nant women us­ing ul­tra­sound ma­chines is called ob­stet­ric ul­tra­sound. It is widely used. How­ever, in most de­vel­op­ing coun­tries, ru­rual ar­eas lag be­hind in its adop­tion. The ma­chines are easy to op­er­ate and can make a real dif­fer­ence. In re­cent years, mean­ing­ful in­no­va­tions have con­trib­uted to sav­ing many preg­nant women’s lives. The fu­ture of the health sec­tor lies in im­proved health­care tech­nolo­gies. There­fore, the use of ul­tra­sound in Mu­rang’a is good news be­cause it con­trib­utes to bet­ter ma­ter­nal health­care.
