MWAMNUADZI SKIPPED COURT HEARING IN AUGUST
On August 30, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko was in court to explain the whereabouts of MRC leader Omar Mwamnuadzi. Sonko was summoned after Mwamnuadzi failed to show up during a hearing of his case in Mombasa. Sonko stood surety for the MRC leader charged with being in possession of a firearm and several bullets. A Mombasa court released Mwamnuadzi on a Sh10 million bond after he had been at Shimo la Tewa Prison for about two months. Intelligence reports showed members of the Mombasa Republican Council are training and recruiting former security personell. The Mombasa county commissioner and Coast regional coordinator denied receiving such reports but said they will investigate. A source said the group has a camp in Likoni, where the training and recruitment are carried out. But the Likoni police boss said no criminals commit offences in Kwale and hide in Likoni.
