Mavoko squatters ask to stay on disputed land
The East African Portland Cement Company’s new management should cooperate with Mavoko squatters for peaceful co-existence. Syokimau Mavoko Welfare Association chairman Pius Musembi (pictured) yesterday said the 6,000 squatters do not want to be at war with the company over land in Athi River town. The squatters and company have been battling over the land. Musembi said the squatters are occupying the land legally and new company MD Simon ole Nkeri should not interfere with them.
