Wil­liam ole Nti­mama was born in 1928. He served as the Narok North MP for 25 years be­fore he re­tired from pol­i­tics on Septem­ber 14, 2013. He served as a Cab­i­net min­is­ter in Pres­i­dent Mwai Kibaki’s govern­ment. He was the de­facto ‘King of the Maa­sai’. Dur­ing his long po­lit­i­cal ca­reer, Nti­mama dis­tin­guished him­self as a great ag­i­ta­tor and de­fender of Maa­sai rights. As a re­sult, he gained un­ri­valed pop­u­lar­ity among the peo­ple of his com­mu­nity and be­came one of the most in­flu­en­tial Masaai lead­ers. He is re­ported to have died of nat­u­ral causes in his house in Narok on Septem­ber 1.
