Radio personality Larry Asego is working very hard to restore his 1974 Volkswagen Camper for this year’s CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance. The 2016 edition will be the 46th to be organised by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club and will be held on September 25th at the Nairobi Racecourse.

In between his radio presentation work, many hours of painstaking preparations are being spent by Asego and his mechanic to prepare his Volkswagen which he is entering in the Concours for the first time. He said, “I bought this car from a vehicle yard in Adams Arcade area two years ago. Its condition was so bad that it had to be towed to the garage. The car had a Subaru engine and had no roof. It was stripped down completely and we rebuilt the engine, the body and the entire upholstery.”

“After restoration I named my Volkswagen Scooby and I have been driving it for the last two years. I enjoy camping and outdoor activities and this car is a perfect fit for my hobbies. This is the first time it will be appearing at the CBA Africa Concours and we are working against the clock to achieve the high standards of the event. I am looking forward to spending the whole Concours day with other classic enthusiasts, exchange ideas on how to prepare these vehicles for the next event and have a good laugh.”
