Man admits cutting his wife with panga after quarrelling over their daughter
A 43-year-old man yesterday pleaded guilty to stabbing his wife in the leg after a quarrel over their teenage daughter. Caterer Nicholas Oloo injured Lillian Atieno on May 3 in Korogocho slum. The prosecution said Oloo arrived in the house in the evening from work and found Atieno watching news. Minutes later, he received a call from his brother about his daughter who was upcountry for medical treatment. The court heard that after ending the call, Oloo started quarreling Atieno over the daughter. He questioned where she left the child as he had received information she had been chased away from the neighbour’s home. Atieno said everything was okay as she had talked to the neighbour. Oloo took a panga and cut Atieno’s leg. She was rushed to hospital unconscious and admitted for a month. Oloo pleaded with principal magistrate Eveline Olwande for a lenient sentence. Oloo will be sentenced on September 28.
