1988

Kanu's mlo­longo's sys­tem was strongly con­demned as in­ef­fec­tual be­cause those with few sup­port­ers were de­clared win­ners.

2002

Can­di­dates said they were asked for mil­lions to get LDP cer­tifi­cates. For­mer Cabi­net min­is­ter Raphael Tuju claimed an Odinga fam­ily mem­ber re­quested Sh6m. Narc nom­i­na­tions were sham­bolic, with sim­i­lar claims of cor­rup­tion made.

2007

Large num­ber of ODM as­pi­rants in Rift Val­ley and Nyanza party hopped. PNU sup­port­ers joined and won elec­tions on fringe party tick­ets. They ac­cused the lead­ers of un­fair nom­i­na­tions.

2013

Nom­i­na­tions fall­out in Nyanza re­sulted in voter ap­a­thy, re­duc­ing Raila's pres­i­den­tial tally. In Ju­bilee ar­eas like Cen­tral and Rift Val­ley, some pop­u­lar can­di­dates joined other par­ties, such as Kanu, and won.
