Insurance regulator says Health function has improved since it was devolved
The Insurance Regulatory Authority has said the health sector has improved services since the function was devolved. Chief executive Sammy Makove said there is still room for improvement through partnerships. “We are aware that there have been various challenges. These are teething problems that such changes are bound to cause,” he said. Makove donated medical equipment worth Sh2.5 million to the Kakamega County General Hospital on Friday. The equipment includes 33 wheelchairs and 10 trolleys. The Coast General Hospital, Nyeri Provincial Hospital, Machakos Level 5 Hospital, Garissa Hospital and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital have benefited from similar donations. “We appreciate that matters health are a prerogative of the government but we’re aware of the resource constraints it faces,” he said.He said IRA will support government facilities through equipment donation.
