South Mu­gi­rango MP to run for Pres­i­dent in 2022, says he has what it takes

South Mu­gi­rango MP Man­son Nyamweya on Fri­day said he will vie for Pres­i­dent in 2022. Nyamweya said he has what it takes and that the seat is not the pre­serve of any com­mu­nity. The MP has also de­clared his in­ter­est in be­com­ing Kisii gov­er­nor, say­ing he only wants to be the county chief for one term. Nyamweya will be con­test­ing against the in­cum­bent Gov­er­nor James Ong­wae on the Kenya Na­tional Congress ticket. The leg­is­la­tor ad­dressed mourn­ers at Ma­roo in the con­stituency. “I am telling those who want to run for the par­lia­men­tary seat they are wel­come,”the MP said. Nyamweya said he will not en­dorse a can­di­date for the seat. Those in­ter­ested should per­suade the peo­ple, the MP added. Nyamweya urged those seek­ing elec­tive seats to en­gage in peace­ful cam­paigns.
