KAA to re­mit staff dues owed to union

The Kenya Air­ports Author­ity has been di­rected to re­mit its em­ploy­ees’ dues owed to the Kenya Avi­a­tion Work­ers’ Union.

Em­ploy­ment and Labour Re­la­tions Court judge Hellen Wasilwa or­dered the author­ity to deduct union dues from its em­ploy­ees in job grade five who have signed the check-off forms. Wasilwa said KAA should not deny the said mem­bers of staff in job grade five the ben­e­fits and in­cre­ments pro­vided for within a CBA reg­is­tered in 2015.

Kawu filed the case to have KAA com­pelled to deduct union dues from the union mem­bers. It said the el­i­gi­bil­ity of the said staff stems from the CBA be­tween the ap­pli­cants and re­spon­dent.
