Journalist to vie for MCA against Busia majority leader
A Busia journalist will vie against assembly majority leader Josephat Wandera for the Elugulu ward seat in Butula subcounty. Wilberforce Oduya, whose last station was Busia FM, declared interest in the seat during a funds drive for women’s groups in Busia town on Saturday. The function was presided over by National Vision Party leader Nicholas Biwott. Oduya, 32, will vie on an NVP ticket. “I believe it is time for the youth to take over the leadership of Elugulu ward. While we appreciate what Wandera has done for us, I will bring fresh ideas to improve what he has done for 10 years,” he said. Oduya, a fourth year student at Mt Kenya University studying communications, has been in journalism since 2008. He worked for Pamoja Radio, Education Insight, Maata Radio Lodwar, Governor’s Diary, Magenta Training Institute and Talk Africa. Wandera said he is ready for the challenge.
