Forest agency honoured for energy and technology use
The Kenya Forest Service clinched three awards in the Central region agricultural show which ended yesterday in Nyeri town. The KFS was recognised for energy and conservation, best community service, and emerged third best in technology application. A fortnight ago, the KFS was the overall title winner during the Mombasa International Show sweeping the environmental category trophies. Director Emilio Mugo said the agency aims to achieve a 10 per cent tree cover before 2030. The tree cover stands at 7.2 per cent from 1.7 per cent in 2002. Last year the KFS distributed more than 150 million seedlings to farmers, private growers and other stakeholders.
