Sh100 million set aside for needy students in Nyeri
The Nyeri government has set aside Sh100 million for bursary for more than 16,000 needy students. Last year, it set up the Elimu Fund – a county bursary scheme – and more than 13,000 needy students received bursaries from the Sh90 million kitty. Deputy Governor Samuel Wamathai said the fund will ensure no student fails to complete school due to lack of money. “The fund aims to help bright and needy students from poor backgrounds and primarily those in secondary schools, universities and colleges, including vocational training centres,” he said. Wamathai spoke at Nyeri National Polytechnic during the Teachers’ Service Commission open day on Wednesday.
