KenGen ef­forts will re­sult in re­li­able and cheap electricity

Kenya’s en­ergy sec­tor is headed for a rev­o­lu­tion­ary change and cheaper power fol­low­ing ef­forts by KenGen to in­ject more power into the na­tional grid.The com­pany plans to in­crease wind and geo­ther­mal power pro­duc­tion af­ter the suc­cess­ful ex­e­cu­tion of Olka­ria IV and V, which will add 280MW into the grid. KenGen is em­brac­ing in­no­va­tion to com­mer­cialise new ideas and is us­ing them to help the coun­try pro­duce more power. The project is timely, con­sid­er­ing ef­forts by the gov­ern­ment to con­nect schools, hos­pi­tals, mar­kets and homes to power.
