Women fight for Malonza to read Malombe message

The Star (Kenya) - - Counties -

Women supporters of Kitui Deputy Governor Peninna Malonza temporarily disrupted a burial ceremony in Kauma, Kitui West, on Saturday. They were angered when Trade executive Jonah Mwinzi read Governor Julius Malombe’s condolence message, instead of Malonza, during the mass burial of five family members killed in a road accident. When Mwinzi finished reading the message, the women attempted to snatch the microphone from him, prompting an altercation. They urged Malonza to read the governor’s message as they tried to wrest the microphone from him. Former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu and area MP Francis Nyenze were present.
