Relocate highly secured offices out of Nairobi CBD

The Star (Kenya) - - Voices -

The government has ordered the Kenya Technical Trainers’ College to relocate from its long-time site in Gigiri, next to the US Embassy and UN complex, for security reasons. In simple terms, the college seems to have been labelled as a security threat to the two ‘privileged institutions’.This has however set a welcome precedent.

In a similar spirit, other privileged institutions such as the ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Bank, Police headquarters, the Kenya Revenue Authority, Parliament and offices of the President and Deputy President, should also move out of the central business district. These institutions have caused a lot of inconveniences due to their security arrangements. Many of the roads and footbaths have been closed or are closed at times. Offices that demand such security should be relocated to isolated sites such as Gigiri for our convinience as well as theirs.
