CS Matiang’i wants ECDE standards harmonised to improve education quality
Education CS Fred Matiang’i wants Early Childhood Education standards harmonised. He said this will ensure the national and county governments deliver services efficiently. The CS spoke during a meeting with county Education executives at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development yesterday. Matiang’i was with director general Leah Rotich, KICD chief executive Julius Jwan, Education executives’ chairman Beryl Mutekhele and her deputy Jamleck Muturi. Harmonised standards will involve ECDE teacher training, classrooms, curriculum, assessment and special needs. The CS said, “An integrated framework on ECDE within the ministries of Education, Health and Labour would ensure development and education needs of children.” Matiang’i said the ministry has created an ECDE directorate to prioritise the needs of children in early stages development.
