Raila should back another man or UhuRuto will win

The Star (Kenya) - - Voices -

Having previously lost the three presidential elections, one would have expected ODM leader Raila Odinga to heed to the call by his Cord co-principals to support one of them in 2017. The situation on the ground already shows that those who thought Raila would retire from politics were wrong. Evidently, since 2013, he has made it clear how he would want the country to be governed. He has been a big critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta. While citing his credentials in the push for democracy and a new constitutional order, ODM supporters and his allies believe he is best suited to lead this country. As a strategy to woo voters, he is now riding on a narrative that the Jubilee government has failed to deliver on its election pledges. But it is evident UhuRuto have done most of what they promised in 2013. If Raila continues with this narrative, he is doomed to fail again.
