IMLU’s Peter Kiama in September urged Kenyans to report extrajudicial killings so action can be taken against perpetrators. Civil society organisations and several leaders held protests in July, following the killing of human rights lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josphat Mwenda and their taxi driver Joseph Muiruri. They were abducted by suspected AP officers on June 23 after a hearing in which Mwenda had accused an AP officer of assault. Their decomposing bodies were found a week later near Ol-Donyo Sabuk River. Following the case, Ombudsman Otiende Amollo in July asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to form a commission of inquiry to investigate extrajudicial killings and disappearances linked to police officers .
