FOUR GOVERNORS HAVE FACED THE AXE, DEPUTIES SAFE
Embu Governor Martin Wambora was the first county boss to be impeached in 2014. He was reinstated by the Court of Appeal, which nullified the Senate approval of impeachment. Deputy Governor Dorothy Nditi wanted to take over the county leadership as she was not implicated in the matter. Other governors who have risked impeachment but their deputies spared include Mwangi Wairia of Murang’a, Nyeri’s Nderitu Gachagua, Paul Chepkwony of Kericho and Nairobi’s Evans Kidero.
