FOUR GOV­ER­NORS HAVE FACED THE AXE, DEPUTIES SAFE

Embu Gov­er­nor Martin Wamb­ora was the first county boss to be im­peached in 2014. He was re­in­stated by the Court of Ap­peal, which nul­li­fied the Se­nate ap­proval of im­peach­ment. Deputy Gov­er­nor Dorothy Nditi wanted to take over the county lead­er­ship as she was not im­pli­cated in the mat­ter. Other gov­er­nors who have risked im­peach­ment but their deputies spared in­clude Mwangi Wairia of Mu­rang’a, Ny­eri’s Nder­itu Gach­agua, Paul Chep­kwony of Keri­cho and Nairobi’s Evans Kidero.
