KTB de­nies or­gan­is­ing, fund­ing Chris Brown’s con­cert at Mom­basa Golf Club

The Kenya Tourism Board has dis­tanced it­self from in­volve­ment in or­gan­is­ing the visit of Amer­i­can pop star Chris Brown. The con­cert called Mom­basaRocks was held at the Mom­basa Golf Club on Satur­day. About 2,500 peo­ple at­tended. Act­ing KTB CEO Jac­inta Nzioka-Mbithi in a state­ment said they did not fund it. “KTB was not in­volved in any ar­range­ments for the visit by Brown,” she said. Mbithi said the of­fi­cial or­gan­is­ers of the con­cert are Walee Wasee Ltd, who ap­proached KTB, like many other cor­po­rate in­sti­tu­tions, through the Mom­basa gov­er­nor’s of­fice and re­quested sup­port. She said KTB through the of­fice of the Mom­basa gov­er­nor rec­om­mended the or­gan­is­ers to hote­liers and air­lines to pro­vide sup­port in kind by pro­vid­ing services. “This would be in ad­di­tion to pub­li­cis­ing the event through var­i­ous so­cial media plat­forms.We wish to clar­ify that no fi­nan­cial com­mit­ment has been put into this event by KTB,” it reads.
