Man denies colluding with two pastors to beat up wife as they forced her into church
Three men were charged yesterday with assaulting a woman as they tried to force her to join a church she said was strange. Christine Mueni, 27, said her husband George Morara, Pastor Maxwell Omari and BishopTimothy Migwi of Bethsaida Church allegedly attacked her in the church on August 24 at Njiru. Mueni suffered serious injuries. The prosecution said on August 19, Makori asked her to accompany him to the church because she is a Catholic. She accepted but left before the service ended, which angered the accused. On August 21, Morara told Mueni to accompany him to the church, but she refused. On August 24, he threatened her by saying if she does not accompany him to the church for prayers, their marriage would end. The three denied the charges before chief magistrate Heston Nyaga and were released on Sh10,000 bail each. The case will be heard on November 25.
