Man de­nies col­lud­ing with two pas­tors to beat up wife as they forced her into church

Three men were charged yes­ter­day with as­sault­ing a woman as they tried to force her to join a church she said was strange. Chris­tine Mueni, 27, said her hus­band Ge­orge Mo­rara, Pas­tor Maxwell Omari and Bish­opTi­mothy Migwi of Beth­saida Church al­legedly at­tacked her in the church on August 24 at Njiru. Mueni suf­fered se­ri­ous in­juries. The pros­e­cu­tion said on August 19, Makori asked her to ac­com­pany him to the church be­cause she is a Catholic. She ac­cepted but left be­fore the ser­vice ended, which an­gered the ac­cused. On August 21, Mo­rara told Mueni to ac­com­pany him to the church, but she re­fused. On August 24, he threat­ened her by say­ing if she does not ac­com­pany him to the church for prayers, their mar­riage would end. The three de­nied the charges be­fore chief mag­is­trate He­ston Nyaga and were re­leased on Sh10,000 bail each. The case will be heard on Novem­ber 25.
