Probe claims state owes city Sh69m in unpaid levies

The Star (Kenya) - - Voices -

Recent allegations that the national government is sabotaging devolution call for an immediate intervention. The national government is said to owe Nairobi county close to Sh69 billion in unpaid levies, among them rent and parking fees. The recent uproar about Chinese fish flooding the Kenyan market has also been attributed to the national government’s sanctioning fish imports without consulting the counties. This has consequently led to poor performance of the local fish industry. The two must work together to make devolution work.
