A Nairobi court yes­ter­day de­tained a terror sus­pect linked to ISIS for three days to en­able po­lice to com­plete in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Mil­i­mani prin­ci­pal mag­is­trate Peter Mugure al­lowed po­lice to con­tinue hold­ing Allin Ab­di­gan, a doc­tor at­tached to the Malindi Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal. He is sus­pected to be part of a terror gang that plans at­tacks us­ing an­thrax.

The pros­e­cu­tion in­formed the court Ab­di­gan is in­volved in sev­eral terror ac­tiv­i­ties and po­lice need more time to com­plete in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

The court heard the sus­pect was ar­rested on Oc­to­ber 7 in the Malindi Sub­county Hos­pi­tal, be­fore he was flown to Nairobi. Ab­di­gan was moved to the Anti- Ter­ror­ism Po­lice Unit.

Po­lice are analysing his mo­bile phone data and other cru­cial ma­te­ri­als, be­fore press­ing charges against him.

It is also al­leged the sus­pect had been on the run since August, when two in­terns at the hos­pi­tal were ar­rested over al­leged links to a ter­ror­ist group. The mat­ter will be men­tioned on Oc­to­ber 13 for fur­ther di­rec­tions.
