Five unregistered colleges in Nairobi were closed yesterday by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority.

Officers from the colleges face charges of operating them without inspection and accreditation. TVET chief executive Kipkirui Lang’at yesterday said, “We have received complaints from the public concerning students’ certificates that are not recognised when they seek employment.”

He said the unregistered colleges offering certificates and diplomas are in Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Mombasa and Kisumu. They include the Technical Institute, Regional Institute of Business Management and Cefored Institute of Relief and Development, East Africa College and Bonjour Institute.
