MP hopeful tells Jakoyo not to run next year

The Star (Kenya) - - Counties -

Gem parliamentary aspirant Eric Rabuogi wants MP Jakoyo Midiwo to step down next year over his “poor development track record”.

He said Midiwo has done nothing tangible in the 15 years he has been area MP.

Rabuogi also accused the legislator of unfair distribution of CDF cash. “You have failed the people of Gem and the honourable thing to do for them is to step down for young and visionary leaders,” he told the Star on the phone yesterday.

Rabuogi challenged Midiwo to show constituents the projects he has initiated so far. He said most roads in the constituency are in poor state.

But Midiwo has said he has improved infrastructure, especially roads. He has served as Gem MP since 2002.

Rabuogi urged Nyanza leaders to focus on issue-based politics to spur development.
