Busia to provide energy-saving cook stoves
The Busia administration will introduce energy-saving Improved cook stoves. “Two to three pieces of firewood can be used in the improved stoves, compared to the amount used with the [traditional] three stones,” Energy executive Bernard Yaite said on Wednesday. The department will partner with German Energising Development. “Residents should look on long-term expenditure and realise that modern energy is less costly,” Yaite said . GIZ EnDev cluster manager Everlyne Minikhu said the programme targets to provide clean modern energy. “Jiko kisasa and Roket stoves save up to 40 and 50 per cent of fuel, respectively,” she said.
