The Star (Kenya) - - Politics Ministries -

A man charged with having bhang told a court yesterday police officers shot him in the waist during arrest. Zacharia Ndatu, 30, told chief magistrate Heston Nyaga he was shot by officers on patrol while having refreshments with friends in Kayole. He is accused of having eight rolls of Sh160 bhang, which was not in medical form. The prosecution said the officers were trailing robbery suspects and as they shot at them, they arrested Ndatu, who had surrendered and was bleeding from a bullet wound. The court heard they searched him and found the bhang. Ndatu denied the charges and pleaded with the court for lenient bond terms. He was released on Sh10,000 bail. The case will be mentioned on October 25.
