Media Focus on Africa, Fida train women aspirants
Media Focus on Africa, in partnership with Fida Kenya, has rolled out a twoyear training programme for women aspiring for political positions. The NGO’s project coordinator, Harrison Manga, said they will train women aspirants from eight counties. He said since June, they have trained 50 women vying for the MCA and governor positions. The organisation has already trained women in the Trans Nzoia, Nandi, West Pokot, Narok, Kajiado and Nyandarua counties. Speaking in Kisumu yesterday, Manga said a few women were elected at the 2013 general election. He said cultural beliefs have made it difficult for most women to venture into leadership. Manga said the programme aims to make women competitive.
