In June, Khaemba de­nied ac­cu­sa­tions by crit­ics that he does not pro­mote equity in ap­point­ments and re­source dis­tri­bu­tion. He said he is not tribal and de­nied sidelin­ing Cheran­gany con­stituency. Speak­ing at Che­barus in Cheran­gany, he said those say­ing he favours only the Luhya were ly­ing. Khaemba said Cheran­gany res­i­dents, and by ex­ten­sion the Kalen­jin com­mu­nity, are ma­jor ben­e­fi­cia­ries of his ad­min­is­tra­tion. He said Deputy Gov­er­nor Stan­ley Tarus and three ex­ec­u­tives are from Cheran­gany, and three oth­ers from other com­mu­ni­ties.
